drops of mercury

when I was a kid I was intrigued by the mercury in the thermometer, and it took a lot of self control not to break the thermometer so I could play with the mercury. when I saw these water drops on my friend Ashley’s car, it’s the first thing I thought of.

here’s how it happens… you make a salad. you throw on some berries, you notice how the raspberries look like little lampshades, and the next thing you know you’re almost late for an appointment because you had to waste time taking pictures of your salad.

When the leaves turn color in California it makes me home sick for the east coast. When I saw these beauties on a morning walk I ran back to get my camera, and played around with the focus to make sure that you would see what I saw.

The Nordstrom’s in Santa Barbara has very posh bathrooms, and the door to each stall is hung with these enormous silver hinges that could be used to hang a door to a castle. Seriously.

The Canon 70-200 mm lens I rented a few weeks ago has a foot on it, and I liked the illusion it creates. You can see the lens on, yes, Russian wikipedia. Because that’s how I roll, baby…
